SANA'A (HAN) December 30, 2005 -
The leaders of Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir, the Ethiopian
prime minister Meles Zenawi and the Somali president Abdullah Yusuf
attend Aden Red sea presidential meeting. The objective of the summit
was to focus on security issues in the south of the Red Sea and Horn
of African, especially current events in Somalia and the quest for
security and stability in the Southern Somalia and the question of
Somaliland.
The Region of Red Sea
and Babal-mandab has completed a strategic update of the Regional Red
Sea strategic Plan through a set of new Regional Red Sea Ports Plan
Amendments. The Regional Ports plan is the prime policy document
(secret presidential agreements) that guides future growth and
development within the Region of Red Sea to the year 2015. Several
other agreements between the countries were signed at the summit, in
agriculture, culture, sports and development exports. They also agreed
to complete moves for free commerce, free zones and customs
cooperation.
The summit discussed
regional cooperation agreements signed between the member countries,
the fight against terrorism, security, stability and sustainable
development in the region.
The third summit was held in the capital of Sudan, on December 27 and
28, where unanimous agreement was given to Somali membership. The
participating countries illegal trade through beaches and boarders and
established a council for businessmen. |
