Why Tourism?
As tourism has
significant influence o the local host communities especially in
developing countries, the Government of Somalia takes into
consideration both positive and negative factors that would
influence the diverse culture of Somali’s. The following factors
were taken into considerations: -
I.
Tourism is a labor-intensive industry which generates
employment opportunities at semi-skilled, technical and managerial
level;
II.
It consists of Predominantly small scale business, in spite
of the fact there will be increasing investment and involvement in
the sector by multinationals and local companies;
III.
It is decentralized industry capable of diversifying regional
economies;
IV.
It is a relatively non- pollutant industry, which if properly
managed, can contribute to the conservation and promotion of our
natural and cultural heritage;
V.
Tourism is an important vehicle for promoting cultural
exchanges that enhance international understanding and goodwill
among peoples of the world;
VI.
It acts as catalyst for the development of other sectors of
the economy of many countries;
VII.
The regulatory aspects will cure the limitations of damages
on Somalia customary and good behaviors.
